Outer Banks Yellow Perch and Bass Fishing

February 24, 2013

First trip of the year, and the target fish was yellow perch.  These colorful hard hitting fish school up in North River in February.  Take a look at the colors:

The cold morning started out with 44 degree water temps and a steady breeze out of the north.  We had a good day catching yellow perch, stripers, and bass.  Most were small but all were fun after the days spent inside the house for the past weeks.

We caught several small stripers like the one pictured.  These fish love cold water and fight hard all the way to the boat.

Eric caught most of the yellow perch and reminded me of the fact all day!  All that fish catching still didn't keep him warm.

We still managed to catch a few bass during the day and enjoyed the day in spite of the wind and cold temperatures.
