Outer Banks Bass Fishing

July 31, 2013

I had a very enjoyable trip today with Jake from Pennsylvania.  Jake is an excellent fisherman and we had a perfect day for fishing.  We started out with a little frog fishing, then to floating worms and ended the day with a few shakey head fish.  The water temps are still in the lower 80's and the fish are biting a little better with the temperature drop.

Thanks Jake!  Keep catching them!!

A early morning start on North River.

The wind finally changed from southwest to a cooler north wind.  The water temps dropped from 88 + degrees to 80 degrees.  With the recent full moon and a big bluegill spawn, I decided to take myself fishing with the limber rods and light line.  I had a blast with 100 plus fish for the day which included bass, bluegill, pumpkinseeds, warmouth, and yellow perch.  Right now this is a fun trip with steady action all day.

All of the fish today were caught on Charlie Brewer slider grubs.

Today Dominic and Dominic Jr. from Long Island and I hit North River for a 3/4 day of fishing.  The water temps are still in the mid to upper 80's and the southwest wind continues to blow.  It's always fun to fish with a father and son and these two had fun with each other all day.  Thanks guys for a great day!

Good fish Dominic!!!

Had a full day trip with two very good fishing brothers on North River.  I had a fun time with Zack and Jeremy from Connecticut.  The day was hot with water temp starting around 84 degrees and rising to 88 degrees before the day was done.  The top water bite is still missing, but the shakey head found a few fish early.

Jeremy caught this nice North River bass.

Zack is fighting one of several Bowfin caught.

Outer Banks Freshwater Fishing

Well it's hot, and so is the light tackle fishing.  I started out the morning in North River looking around for some largemouth for a up coming trip.  The bass fishing can still be good in this hot weather, but you have to slow down and work for them.  The water temps started at about 86 degrees and reached 90 degrees before the day ended.

The light tackle fishing has been excellent for the past few weeks and will stay hot with the coming full moon.  I caught over 60 fish and 6 different species.  That will make you forget the hot weather.
