Outer Banks Bass Fishing

May 27, 2014

Spent a half day trip with Roland and Brian from Kentucky.  Fishing was tough on North River today, but Roland and Brian scratched out a few bass and then we switched over to light tackle the last hour so we could put a few more fish in the boat.  Thanks for the great day.

Judd and I took a full day trip to the Yeopim River which is about an hour and fifteen minute ride from the Outer Banks.  I was shocked to see that the tornados that I had read about a couple weeks ago had gone right down part of the upper river.  We caught a few fish but Judd had the catch of the day.

I took a solo trip today to fish some areas that I had not fished in a while.  The water temp was in the low 70's and the morning was a little cool.  Caught a few fish messing around with some new baits, took a few pictures of the nice ones.

Today Gary and I had a full day on North River for round two.  We were going to East Lake, but the wind would have made East Lake fish real small.  We decided to fish North River again and Gary picked up where he left off the other day and boated 20+ fish and had a couple nice fish to go with them.  Gary caught a variety of fish while bass fishing.  He caught bass, chain pickerel, crappie, bream, gar and I think a bowfin.  Thanks for the good day of fishing and conversation.

Today I had a full day trip with Gary from Virginia on North River.  Gary caught a bunch of fish with steady action all day, with a total of 20 to 25 fish.  Gary also caught a couple nice crappie and my favorite the mean Warmouth.  A little topwater action in the morning and soft plastics after that.  Thanks for a good day Gary, and thanks for the secret tip!!!!!

I had a fun full day fishing with Ralph and Cathy from Virginia.  The morning started out with heavy heavy fog.  The top water bite was not there this morning and we quickly switched to soft plastics.  Both Ralph and Cathy caught a nice fish during the day and Cathy caught one on the last cast.  Thanks guys for a nice day!

Enjoyed a Super Half Day trip with Bob from Virginia.  The top water bite was on and off all day and we had to use soft plastics in between.  Bob fished the Currituck Sound a lot back in the 70's when it was full of grass and full of fish.  I enjoyed hearing the fish stories and experiences Bob shared throughout the day.

Judd and I took a full day trip to East Lake.  East Lake is a great fishing spot, but you have to pick your days when the wind will let you fish where you want to fish.  Judd and I caught a bunch of fish until the wind ran us in.
